In addition, the following electives have special criteria. Please review and if you’re interested, complete the designated Google form. Your selection does not guarantee your placement in the course.

  1. Associated Student Body (ASB):
    ASB Students interact with the student body to create and uphold a positive school environment by facilitating activities and promoting school spirit. ASB students are expected to be independent self-advocates who can step up and represent themselves and their peers in an exemplary fashion. Once you are an ASB student, you must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and have no suspensions during the current school year.
    If you have earned 4’s or 5’s in all subject areas on your T2 report card and are interested in ASB, you must complete the following steps:
    1. Complete the ASB interest form

    2. Ask your teacher to complete the teacher recommendation google form by giving your teacher this link: https://forms.gle/hGMKhg1g9Y1Yx37r7
    3. If A & B are completed and approved, you will be invited to complete the ASB interview.
  2. AVID:
    Do you have a desire to go to college or to prepare for a future career, then this is the elective for you! AVID is a college and career prep elective. For one class period a day, you will receive additional academic, social, emotional, and organizational support to help you be successful in your classes from not only your AVID teacher, but also from our college-age AVID Tutors. We also visit various college campuses to get a feel of what a higher education can offer you. While in the AVID elective it should be your goal to maintain a 2.0 grade point average. In order to be a part of the AVID elective, you must complete the interview process. Your first step in this process is to complete the AVID interest form

  3. Spanish 1A or Spanish for Spanish Speakers:
    Pinacate offers you the ability to get a head start for high school! If you take Spanish 1A during 7th grade and Spanish 1B during 8th grade, you will receive one year of high school A-G credit. This means you can take Spanish II during your first year in high school. If you already speak Spanish, you can take Spanish for Spanish Speakers and get 1 year of high school credit!
